Homework

Currently we are designing a type of "link" that will contain a homework chat where all the homework from 1/2 and 3/4 will be posted, but for now just scroll down to this post to find it. We know that after a while with a post build-up it'll become slightly tedious to scroll all the way down, so we will try to get the "link" activated soon!!!!

This week:
Monday 6th- Write 8 questions from part 2 (the Underworld), 2 which are clozes
Tuesday 7th- Read summary of each book from the Odyssey and about Homer (check out http://www.mythweb.com/odyssey/)

Creatology

Creatology is a common word used in Ms. Minnicks class. We use it to describe a free choice writing project, that we create biweekly. The object is to improve our writing skills, get us comfortable with different types of literature, feel free with our writing, and bring forth the joy of creation! It is a combination of the word create, and the greek root "logos", meaning words.

Social Action Club

Social Action Club
Social Action Club meets every Thursday for an hour and and act. In a previous post we told you about Knit-a-Square, but before that we have done a lot more. In the beginning of the year we simply accepted donations from students in the class (and school) of travel sized shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, soaps, deodorants, and such hygiene products. After we packaged them in bags and bows our president drove them over to the Rachel's Women Center.
For Halloween we gave out Trick-or-Treat-for-UNICEF boxes to all the sixth grade English teachers, for them to give to their students and then turn in to us. We raised 1,100 dollars for UNICEF doing that! We also started making milk carton wallets... they're not too easy to make yet two girls made them perfectly the first time around!
And now of course we're knitting... knitting.... knitting... and some of us croqueting.

Greek Mythology

In Ms. Minnicks 6th grade english class, we are currently working on Greek Mythology. We are reading, summarizing, and interpreting tales from D’Aulaires Book of Greek Myths, preparing for a Mythology exam in late Febuary. Soon, we will read and study chapter 11 in Homers Odessey, further preparing for the test. Last year, almost everybody got a medal in the exam, and this year, we are hoping that everyone will get one. We are working hard like Hephaestus, and are aiming for the best.

Pie Day/Pi Day

Today, Malala as we know it was recognized as Pie Day. Social  Action Club decided that we should have a proper bake sale on Pie/Pi Day, March 14th, 3.14. A couple weeks ago we questioned everyone in the math department what type of pie they wanted, can you guess why?

Knit-a-Square

SAC (Social Action Club) is knitting like crazy to donate 8" squares for orphans whose parents died of AIDS. So far we have nine squares and are planning for atleast 35 total, so that we donate enough for a whole quilt.

Hooray!

Today, Malala, is the first day of our blog! Happy Malala! Happy Minnicksville blog! Happy Friday! We hope that everyone is happy and follows the Malala rituals, and expects the mail and prepares for it like you should!
